
From the last 42 years Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing National Himalayan Trekking Expeditions in the heart of Himalayas.With all the effort and courage bringing together, with the joy of exploring Mother Nature, we are organizing National Mountain Biking Expedition, yet again, to give you memories for life (from Banala (Post Aut) to Jalori Pass and back to Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh).
Beauty Himachal Pradesh is the land of Gods, Goddesses and namely The Heart of India. Himachal has various picturesque locations that are more than enough to beguile you completely. Covered with the magnificent Himalayas, the ‘land of gods’ is a place which gives you breath taking views and scenic beauties and experience for lifetime. This place peppered with a number of hill stations offer you many wonders to be explored. Explore the thrills of Himalayas with YHAI & witness what all Himachal has in store for you. Jalori Pass located at a height of 10500ft fills you with a breathtaking and exhilarating view. It is famous for its beauty of colorful birds, wilderness of wildlife, botanical species of thick and colorful foliage enchanting fragrance, leaving passerby tempted to the unresistable view of natural beauty.
Purpose The purpose of the program is to expose YHAI members to a greater adventure and to rough the rigors of plodding with a sense of love for nature and outdoor recreational activity aiming at promoting advent are in tandem with national integration.
Dates The expedition consists of only 11 batches of 20 participants each reporting at base camp Banala on 24th April, 26th April, 28th April, 30th April, 2nd May, 4th May, 6th May, 8th May, 10th May, 12th May, 14th May, 16th May, 18th May, 20th May, 22nd May, 24th May, 26th May, 28th May, 30th May 1st June & 5th June-2013. Choose any date mentioned above after getting seats confirmed from the National Office YHAI, New Delhi.
Schedule
Day 1: Reporting at base camp Youth Hostel Banala (Post Aut) (3500ft)
Day 2: Acclimatization and Orientation
Day 3: Biking to Youth Hostel , Banjar – 22km – (4000ft)
Day 4: Biking to Youth Hostel Jibhi – 10km – (6000ft)
Day 5: Biking to Youth Hostel Soja – 07kms – (10000ft)
Day 6: Nature Trail at Jalori Pass, Biking Back to Youth Hostel Banjar – 17 km
Day 7: Biking to Youth Hostel Banala (Post Aut) – 22kms (3500ft)
Day 8: Group Breaks after Breakfast.

Age The minimum age for joining the expedition is 18 years. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.
Fee Participation fee Rs.2700/- per head which cover use of bicycle , stay in tented accommodation, Nutritious Vegetarian meals, guidance, forest entry fee and insurance. Participants will bear to and fro travel expenses from their home to base camp.
Note 1: YHAI trekking expeditions are not subsidized by any Government or donors.
Important: YHAI group insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take insurance cover for your journey & other related matters.

How to Reach For National Himalayan Mountain Biking, our base camp is at Banala (Post Aut) (Landmark- Cafe Adventure), which is on the Kullu-Manali Highway. It is 28km short from Kullu, direct bus services are available from ISBT Delhi, Chandigarh and other parts of Punjab, nearest railheads are Ambala and Chandigarh.
How to Apply Members desirous of joining this program may apply online through our website www.yhaindia.org, or, by the prescribed registration form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, along with a DD of requisite amount in favor of “Youth Hostels Association of India”, payable at New Delhi. Members can also apply through the State Branch or Local Unit of YHAI.
N.B: Without admit card do not claim your registration as confirmed.
Cancellation In case you are unable to join this trek you will get a refund of RS 1350/- provided your request is received directly in the National Office at least 15 days in advance from the date of your joining. Any unforeseen event /strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. Refund will be given after completion of the program.
Photography Competition After the completion of each trekking expedition, a photography competition will be held for which attractive cash prizes and certificates will be awarded. You may also send your entries in the form of colored slides or prints on the following subjects: Nature-birds, Flowers, Scenic Beauty, Camping and Trekking. The size of the prints should be 8” x 10”. Please give brief details of the location of the subjects and also your name, address and group number on the reverse of the photograph. YHAI has the right to retain/use even the entries which are not selected for awards due to acknowledgement/compensation. Last date for submitting entries is 31st July 2013.
Personal Requirements Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Rain sheet, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries.
Safety Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
SMOKING, USE OF ALCHOHOL AND NARCOTICS OF ANY DESCIPTION IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING THECOURSE OF THE PROGRAM.
Deviation from the set route of the program Is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.
Certificates Participants, who successfully complete the biking and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.
Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for Girls YHAI announces Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
Special Casual Leave No special casual leave is applicable for mountain biking program.
Your Attention Please not that this is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.
Warning Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence.
