* BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM: The Youth Hostels Association of India, Haryana State Branch in collaboration with YHAI Srinagar Unit-1 (J&K) is organizing the “Mantalai  Family Camping cum Nature study programme” through some of the most scenic and beautiful areas of  Jammu & Kashmir. This four days Family Camping cum Nature study programme  is being organized in the historical and mythological important location where it is believed that Bhagwan Shiv and Mata Parvati got married amidst green meadows and pastures; lofty mountains; thick deodar, cheer forests; clear natural water springs;. The camp is a unique experience, providing campers with a glimpse of magnificent natural and built heritage of the state of Jammu & Kashmir and study of flora and fauna of the area.  

* Programme incusion:

The fee includes simple vegetarian food, tented accommodation, supervision, expert guidance and equipment for 4 days. Booking will be done strictly on first come first serve basis.

* HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP:

The base camp is 120 Kms from Jammu and 60 kms from Udhampur, 27 Kms from Chenani on Jammu Srinagar National Highway. While coming from Jammu by road, buses are available at General Bus Stand Jammu City for Mantalai and from Udhampur Bus stand.

While coming by Train- Direct trains are available up to Udhampur.

While coming by air- The nearest Airport is Jammu. From Jammu Airport taxis are available.

* WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Participation is open to families who are members of YHAI. Family comprise of Husband Wife and 2 children below age of 12.  Each family would be provided with a tent. *For kids from 12-18 years, additional fee of Rs. 1000/- per person has to be remitted..

 

* HOW TO JOIN: Members desirous of joining the programme may apply on a prescribed Registration Form duly supported by a Medical certificate, which is available, free of cost, with the Units / State Branches of YHAI and National Office. It can also be downloaded from our website  www.yhaindia.org

Those who are interested to participate should send registration form duly filled along with Bank Draft of Rs 6300/-* and the DD should be prepared in the name of “Youth Hostels Association of India, Haryana State Branch” payable at Youth Hostels Association of India, Faridabad. * CANCELLATION RULES: Persons who are unable to join the trek after paying the participation fee, will get a refund of 50% provided their request is received directly in the National office / State Branch office at least 30 days in advance from the date of their reporting.

*ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:

Tented accommodation is available.

* FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES: simple vegetarian food and clean drinking water.

* WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:

Trekkers should bring cotton shirts, cotton pants, bed sheet, hunter shoe, sun-cap, wind sheeter, two woolen jersey, four pairs of socks, torch, water bottle, lunch box, mug, plate, tumbler, toilet set, cold cream, and first aid kit including essential medicines. Mug, plate, tumbler and spoon are must

 

* SAFETY & SECURITY: From safety point of view much preparation has gone into the planning of the trek route. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the areas to check all details. While preparing trek care has been taken to ensure safety of the participants, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

* ADDITIONAL NOTES: Prohibitions:

SMOKING, USE OF ALCOHOL AND NARCOTICS OF ANY DESCRIPTION ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING THE COURSE OF THE PROGRAMME. Violators will not be allowed further participation in the programme and are liable to be discharged immediately on the spot. Deviation from the set route of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so after finishing the trek and checking out, at their own risk and responsibility.

* Your attention:

YHAI, expects the participants to maintain discipline at all times. This will include adherence to the programme schedule in letter and spirit. This being an environment friendly programme, participants are requested not to litter or spoil the trail in any way. They are expected to carry the same with them to deposit at the camp
