* BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:

Youth Hostel Association of India, Meghalaya Branch  is organizing a  7 days State Trekking  cum  Caving  in Meghalaya, covering  the  places in Shillong and  Sohra  (Cherrapunjee) from  30th  Oct to 7th   Nov, 2017.  This is a good  opportunity to see the scenic beauty and experience the adventurous activities.

 

* REPORTING PLACE AND DATES

            The 1st Group will report at Youth Hostel Shillong on the 30th Oct, 2017, the 2nd Group on 31st Oct 2017 and the 3rd Group on the 1st Nov, 2017.

 

* HOW TO REACH

The nearest Railway Station and Airport is Guwahati. Sumo and Tourist Taxis are available from the railway station and airport to Shillong which is about 100 kms away from Railway Station and about 130 kms from Airport.

            Youth Hostel is located opposite the Central Telegraph Office and near the State’s Secretariat which is a walking distance from the sumo/tourist taxis stand (Police Bazar).

 

* PROGRAMME SCHEDULED:

# Day 1 : Reporting at Youth Hostel Shillong from 3PM onwards

# Day 2 : Transfer by bus to Mawphlang, trek from Mawphlang to Laitryngew and halt at Laitryngew

# Day 3 : Trek from Laitryngew via Nohkalikai falls and Rainbow falls to Nongriat

# Day 4 : Back from Nongriat via Tyrna & Mawmluh Cave to Sohra (Cherrapunjee)

# Day 5 : Local trek and Caving at Sohra, transfer by bus back to Shillong

# Day 6 : Local Sight Seeing (at your own expense and choices)

# Day 7 : Check out by 10AM

* WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

 - Only members of YHAI are eligible to participate on first come first serve basis

 - The minimum age for joining the expedition is 18 years

* REGISTRATION FEE:

            Rs. 6300/- per head which will cover the stay, simple veg. food, transportation, guidance, equipment, etc. You will however, have to bear to and fro travel ex-penses from your home town to Youth Hostel Shillong.

 

* PAYMENT

Payment can be made only by depositing the fees in our bank account through Net Banking, NEFT/RTGS (DD not accepted):

* HOW TO APPLY:

            Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on a prescribed Registration Form available from National Office Website (www.yhaindia.orgdownloadstrekking registration form), duly supported by a  Medical Certificate(www.yhaindia.orgdownloadstrekking medical form), YHAI membership ID and the details of the payment of Registration Fee and can upload the scan copy of these documents as an attachment in this email ID : yhai.meg@gmail.com. And submit the same at the time of reporting failing which you will have to bear the printing charges.

            The last date for receiving the Registration form, Medical form, YHAI membership ID and the details of fee payment in the mail inbox is 15th October, 2017.

* CANCELLATION RULES:

In case any participant is unable to join the programme, application for cancellation in writing  or email  to the State Secretary (yhai.meg@gmail.com)  one  month before the  scheduled  date  booked by the  individual and  avail 50% of the  participation fee  paid.  If such notice  is received after  the  time  given, no refund  will be admissible.

 

* ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:

At Youth Hostels Shillong and makeshift camp during trekking

* FOOD  & WATER  SUPPLIES: Will be provided

* WHAT TO BRING:

Besides their own personal things the Participants need to carry jacket, t-shirt, umbrella/raincoat, torch, trekking bag pack/rug sack, sneakers suitable for trekking/trekking shoes, cap, sun glasses, tiffin box, etc.

 

* SAFETY  & SECURITY:

 Alcohol, narcotic of any description and smoking are strictly prohibited.

 Participants are advised to take personal insurance cover before joining the programme. ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Participant  shall  not  hold   any  of YHAI Organisers’  responsible  wholly or partially  for any  injury,  accidents, illness and such other  unforeseen eventualities during the expeditions.
