* About Program:

For the second time Youth Hostels Association of India is organizing the Himalayan Winter Trekking Expedition in Manali. This program has been designed to fulfill the demand of the YHAI members who want to participate in trekking during winter. So we decided to organize this program in very famous hill station  Manali  in Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Manali is most picturesque valley, is also known as the Queen of Hill station, located on the bank of river Beas river. Kullu valley is known as Valley of God. This expedition  will cover places of importance like Hadimba temple, Old Manali, Vasisth,etc. If you are lucky then you may experience the snow fall during your expedition.

* How To Reach:

By Bus
Manali is about 560 kms from Delhi, 280 kms from Shimla & 350 kms from Chandigarh. HRTC/Himachal Tourism operates Volvo buses for Manali.
 
By Train
Nearest railway station is Chandigarh (309 kms) & Ambala (339 kms). From there AC buses are available.
 

* Day Wise schedule:

# Day 1: Reporting at the base camp International Youth Hostel Manali before 15-00 PM. Training/Acclimatization at 17-00 PM. 

Day 2- Trek to  Vashisth village which is known for its natural hot sulphur  water.  ( 7to 8 hours) The total distance is approximately 11 to 12 km
 
Day 3- Trek  through Shuru village Apple orchards towards river Beas , Jagatsukh Nallah,Jagatsukh village from there back to Base Camp Prini. 7 to 8 hours,Total distance- 12 Kms.
 
Day 4- Trek to Sethan village (  9 to 10 hours,Total distance 16 to 17 Kms. ) followed by Certificate Distribution and Recreation Activity .
 
# Day 5: After breakfast the group breaks. ( 9-00AM)
 

* Who can Participate:

This expedition is open to YHAI members who are 15 years above and physically fit. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age will not be considered in any case.
 

* How to Participate:

Online booking is available through Schedule & Seats of the program. Members can also apply through our YHAI Units or State Branch in their respective area.

N.B: Without admit card, membership card/reciept and Medical fitness Certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed.
 

* Offline Bookiing Process:

Members desirous of joining this programme may apply through state Branch/State Unites on the prescribed registration form (Download) duly supported by a Medical Certificate (Download), along with a DD of requisite amount Rs. 4200/- in favour of “ Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New delhi.  

N.B: Booking is based on first come first serve All Offline Booking confirmation is subject to availability of seats. Without admit card do not claim your registration as confirmed.

 

* Cancellation Policy:

In case you are unable to join this trip you will get Rs.2100/- of the programme fees as refund,  provided your online cancellation request is received before 30th-November-2017.
 
Participants who have booked online should cancel online on or before 30th-November-2017. (http://yhaindia.org/program-cancellation.php)
Any unforeseen event /  strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. Refund will be given after completion of the programs.
 

Notice to Participant for any illness or injury:

1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

2. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own     responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.

3. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

4. This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or         anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

5. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence.

* Food & Supplies:
Simple, nutritious vegetarian meals will be provided.
 
* Accommodation Facilities:
Accommodation will be provided in International Youth Hostel Manali.
 
* Safety & Security:
Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
 
YHAI Group Insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take personal insurance cover for your journey and other related matters. Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of this program for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
 
 
 
* What participants should along:
Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Good Woolen sweaters or Jackets, Sun Cap, Trekking Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold Cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, medicines which you normally use at home, Camera. 
 
* Special Casual leave:
The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.
 
* Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship:
YHAI announces Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
 
* Adventure Scholarship for Handicap:
YHAI announces 50 adventure scholarships of each to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for this expedition. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI, on a plain paper supported by relevant documents/certificates.  
 
* Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship:
To provide underpreviledged young men and women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities / programs by YHAI in various parts of the country. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
