*BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:
 
Youth Hostels Association of India Kerala state Branch is organizing its 10th Munnar  (Kurunji Hills) Trekking and Training during September 2018 coinciding with the flowering of Strobilanthes kunthiana (Neelakurunji). Neelakurinji belongs to the family of Acanthaceae. The genus has more than 500 species, of which about 50 occur in India. Besides the Western Ghats, Neelakurinji is seen in the Shevroys in the Eastern Ghats. It occurs at an altitude of 1300 to 2400 metres. Flowering takes places between June and December, peaking towards September & October. Munnar Nature Study programme give an opportunity to the participants to see the nature wonder. 
 
*Schedule of the Programme:
 
#Day 1 : Reporting at Base Camp after 2 pm. Overnight stay at Base camp   Dormitory. 
Meridian Meadows Dormitory, Near Engineering College Munnar 
#Day 2 :  Training & Acclimatization: 9 AM – Visit Kurinji Hills (By Bus and Walk) 
5. PM to 6.30 PM Munnar Town Visit and overnight stay at Meridian Meadows Dormitory
#Day 3 :  Sightseeing  Munnar 
  09.00 AM Departure from Base Camp by Road 
Visit  Munnar, Kundala, Mattupetty and Top Station, Eco Point, Tea Estate etc.
overnight Stay in Meridian Meadows Dormitory.
#Day 4 :  Certificate Distribution and Recreation Ceremony
Group disbursed after breakfast.

The reporting place for the programme is “Meridian Meadows Near Engineering College ,Munnar” Idukki Dist, Kerala India, Pin code : 688 523. Is well connected by road from Ernakulam  (Cochin) 131 Kms. Nearest Rail Heads are Aluva (114 Kms). Nearest Air Port is Nedumbasseri (Cochin Airport) 120 Kms.
 
 
*WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
 
Any YHAI member above the age of 15 years can participate on first cum first serve basis.
 
*HOW TO JOIN:

*CANCELLATION RULES:
 
In case you are unable to join the programme after paying participation fee, you will get Rs 3000/-as refund provided  your request is received at least 10 days in advance from the date of your reporting. No refund will, however, be admissible if such notice is short of 10 days.

Simple Vegetarian Food and safe Drinking Water 
 
*WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:
 
Rucksack, Pants / Jeans, Woolen Jersey and Muffler, Gloves, Socks, Rain Coat, Tourch with extra batteries, Soap, Towel, Mug, Plate, Cold Cream, Lunch Box, Glass, Water Bottle, Plate, Spoon, Shoes and Tumbler. 
 
*SAFETY & SECURITY:
Our field volunteers and camp leaders have been visited the area and check the details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities
 
*ADDITIONAL NOTES:
 
Use of alcohol and narcotics of any description and smoking are strictly prohibited during the programme. Deviation from the set rout of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the programme and check out.
