* About Program:

Dear students, our mission is to enable and promote travel, tourism, adventure spirit, national integration and Education by our different adventure programmes round the year. Every year we organize a Special Nature study cum trekking expedition programme for the student. So once again we are conducting the same programme at 15 Miles in district Kullu (HP). This programme includes many adventurous activities which can boost your future with courage, leadership, National Integration, team spirit and lot of fruitful achievements

Location : Kullu (HP)                                      

Flora and Faluna : The common trees in the Kullu hills belong to the conifer species (deodar, pine, spruce, fir). Several species of medicinal plants like Hath Panja (Dactylorhiza hatageria) and Brahma Kamal (Saussurea obvallata) grow luxuriously in the valley. The valley is known for the presence of the , the Himalayan brown bear and the Himalayan Thar. The Western Tragopan (the state bird of Himachal Pradesh) and the Monal pheasant are the prominent birds species found in the region.

Highest Altitude Gain : 12,000 Feet

Note:-These programs are exclusively for YHAI members. Membership is also available at Base Camp/Online/State Branch/Units and  YHAI Trekking expeditions are not subsidized by the Government or any donors.


* Reporting Dates:  27th April to 15th May 2019(every day 50 students will report at base camp)

* Duration:  8D/7N (on 8th day participants will have to check out after breakfast)

* Program Includes:

Simple vegetarian food, Sharing accommodation, Equipments, Training, Forest entry fee, Guidance and group Insurance

* Day Wise schedule:

# Day 01: Reporting: participants will report at base camp 15 Miles. Equipments will be issued to the students by or before evining.

# Day 02: Training/Acclimatization: Students will trek around the base camp while morning exercises to get acclimatized properly followed by breakfast. After breakfast students will go for rock climbing and rappelling till lunch break and after a specific rest students will enjoy the river crossing by different techniques in guidance of our professional instructor.

# Day 03: Short Trek to Kharogi: Students will be transported from Base Camp to Katrain where they will start trekking for 04 hours to reach Kharogi Youth Hostel Camp which is located at an altitude of 6000 feet from sea level.

# Day 04: Trek to Naya Tapru:  On this day students will enjoy the beautiful trek in dense forests for 06 hours while gaining some altitude to reach Naya Tapru Camp which is located at altitude of 8200 feet from seal leavel. Naya Tapru Camp is the site where tree line ends and snow line starts

# Day 05: Height Gain: This is the day when students will feel the real adventure while trekking on snow, snow sliding etc. to reach base of the Chanderkhani, Chanderkhani is a mountain pass having altitude of 12000 feet approximately. Students will only reach to the base of chanderkhani mountain pass and will return to the camp and this trek will take around 10 hours approximately

# Day 06: Descend to Nathan Seri: On this day students will start descending in beautiful dense forests towards Nathan Seri Camp. During this trek students can enjoy the beautiful natural views of Mountain peaks, Villages etc. this trek will take 07 hours to reach the Nathan Seri camp which is located at an altitude of 6000 feet from seal level.

# Day 07: Certificate Distribution/ Recreation Activity: This is the final day of trekking of this program when students feel much excited to reach the base camp after successful completion of the trekking programme. By the evening there will be closing ceremony in which students will share their experience with the new comers  and the certificates will be also distributed to the students who have completed successfully the trekking programme. Students can also conduct cultural evening/programme.

# Day 08: Check out: On this day students will have to check out from the base camp after breakfast.

* How To Reach:
15 Miles is 20 kms from Kullu.  near end of Span Resort. Get down at Ballu's Cafe - Baba Deluxe Dhaba on the Delhi- Kullu Manali National Highway. With a panoramic view of surrounding mountains.Regular bus services are available for Kullu from Delhi,Chandigarh & Punjab. Every bus from Kullu to Manali is passed from 15 miles. The nearest Railway Stations are Ambala & Chandigarh & the nearest Airport is Bhuntar.

* Who can Participate:

The program is open to students of age group between 10 -15 yrs. Only junior members are allowed to participate. Overage/ underage students shall not be considered in any case.



* How to Participate:

Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this program may apply online by paying  program fee along with online booking amount rs 4200/- .

We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on for online payments.

After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry "Admit Card", "Trekking Medical Certificate" & "Membership Card"(Print out of temporary membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.

Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this program may apply on the prescribed "Trekking Registration Form" duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate", along with a DD of requisite amount of Rs.4000/- in favour of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. All Offline Booking confirmation is subject to availability of seats. National Office will send the Admit to the participant at the address mentioned in "Trekking Registration Form".

N.B: Without admit card and Medical fitness Certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed.


* Cancellation Policy: In case you are unable to join this trip you will get 50 % of the program fee as refund, provided your online cancellation request is received before 5th April, 2019.

Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred.

Any unforeseen event / strike or natural calamity or Medically unfit will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

Refund may be given after post completion of the programs.


* Notice to Participant for any illness or injury: YHAI Group Insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take personal insurance cover for your journey and other related matters. Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

* Food & Supplies: Simple vegetarian food

* Accommodation Facilities: Tenting accomodation will be provided.

* What participants should along:

 Rucksack (if You have one), Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Lunch box ,Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet,  Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries.

* Notice to Participants:


1.  Students will have to follow the schedule strictly. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.

2.  Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

3.  This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

4.  Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence.

* Certificates: Participants, who successfully complete the trekking and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.

*Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship.  Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents.  In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
*Adventure Scholarship for Physically Challenged Youth: YHAI announced 50% adventure scholarships of to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI, on a plain paper supported by relevant documents/certificates (Disability Certificate).  
*Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women :YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country.  Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ 
certificates through their respective State Branch.

* Photography Competition: After the completion of each trekking expedition, a photography competition will be held for which attractive cash prizes and certificates will be awarded. You may also send your entries in the form of colored slides or prints on the following subjects: Nature-birds, Flowers, Scenic Beauty, Camping and Trekking. The size of the prints should be 8” x 10”. Please give brief details of the location of the subjects and also your name, address and group number on the reverse of the photograph. YHAI has the right to retain/use even the entries which are not selected for awards due to acknowledgement/compensation. Last date for submitting entries is 31st July 2019.
