* About Program:
 
World famous Valley of Flowers is 3 X 3 km open valley in Garhwal Himalayas, first discovered by Maj. Smith coming down from Kamet Expedition. Mythologically it is the same place where Sanjivani Booti grew and was taken by great Hanuman to treat Laxman.
This place is also associated with Pandavas as Bhema fought for Bramha Kamal asked by Draupadi. It is a sacred place for Hindus as well as for Sikhs. It is Botanists and photographer paradise. Variety of flowers and plants grow in the valley. Mist, fragrance combine together give visitors a life time experience.
 
Valley of Flowers is located in West Himalaya, in the state of Uttarakhand and is known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and the variety of flora. This richly diverse area is also home to rare and endangered animals, including the Asiatic black bear, snow leopard, musk deer, brown bear, red fox and blue sheep. Birds found in the park include Himalayan Monal pheasant and other high altitude birds.
The Valley of Flowers is a high-altitude Himalayan valley that has long been acknowledged by renowned mountaineers, botanists, and in literature. It has been recognized internationally for over a century and is referenced in the Hindu religion. Local people have visited the valley since ancient times. Indian yogis (Yogesh Mota) are known to have visited the valley for meditation. The Valley of Flowers has many different colourful flowers, taking on various shades of colours as time progressed. The Valley of Flowers has gained importance as a region containing a diversity of alpine flora, representative of the Western Himalayan alpine shrub and meadows ecoregion.

* Who can Participate: 
 
The minimum age for a member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and above age will not be considered. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate".
 
Special Allowance Cases:
 
On the special case if the person is medically fit and a regular trekker than he can be allowed in offline mode (decision will be final only on management discretion and seat availability). In this case, he/she has to produce Indemnity bond on rs 100/- bond paper from his respective state and has to submit the same along with his Registration form.
 
* How to Reach: For the convenience of the trekkers coming from all over the country, our Transit Camp is situated in Rishikesh.
 
By Rail: Nearest Rail Head is Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun. Regular Bus service is available from Haridwar, Dehradun  & Delhi.
By Air: The nearest airport to reach Rishikesh is the Jolly Grant airport, Dehradhun, which is around 35 kms from the city. There are taxis services, cabs and buses available outside the airport that can be taken to reach Rishikesh from Dehradun.
By Road: Rishikesh is well connected to all the major roads and national highways and can be easily reached from all the parts of the country

* How to Participate:
 
Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online by paying requisite program fee along with online booking amount i.e. Rs 7613/- (Rs.7250/- Program Fee + Rs363/- Online Booking Amount).
We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.
After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry "Admit Card", "Trekking Medical Certificate" & "Membership Card"(Print out of membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.
 
Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may also apply on the prescribed "Trekking Registration Form" duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate"(Validity 30 days prior to reporting date only), along with a DD of requisite amount of Rs.7250/-in favour of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. All Offline Booking confirmation is subject to availability of seats. National Office will send the Admit Card along with confirmation letter to the participant at the address mentioned in "Trekking Registration Form".
 
Members can also apply through our YHAI Units or State Branch in their respective area.
 
N.B: Without admit card and Medical fitness Certificate do not claim your registration as confirmed.
 
* Cancellation Policy: In case you are unable to join this trek, you will get a refund of 50% of your booking Rs. 3625/- (except online charges) provided when your request is received through online link (CLICK HERE) & offline booking should be come through the post directly at the National Office-New Delhi, on or before 25th June, 2019. After this date no refund application will be considered.
 
Please attach the copy of your Admit card in your cancellation request.
 
Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred.
 
There is no refund applicable for the all the program bookings done after 25th June, 2019.
 
Any unforeseen event / unfit medical Condition/strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

Report at Base Camp, Rishikesh

On the first day, the participants can report at the base camp in Rishikesh at their convenient time and enjoy the surroundings. With the descending of the dusk they can experience the divine Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat and go for a walk in Lakshman Jhula.

Rishikesh to Joshimath Camp

After enjoying a pleasant evening in Rishikesh, you will travel 255km to Joshimath by bus with a breathtaking view of the divine Ganga from your window. Joshimath is a town in Chamoli that serves as a base for travelers who are interested in taking a trek to higher regions. It is known for an 8th century matt named the Adi Guru Shankaracharya. The place offers an opportunity for travelers to meet people with different interests and different journeys.

Joshimath to GovindghatandGovindghat to Ghagaria

On the third day, participants will travel from Joshinath Camp to Govindghat (12 km) by bus alongside beautiful river Alaknanda. After reaching Govindghat, you can hire a mule or porter to trek to Ghagaria (13km). Otherwise, you can also trek on your own. The last human habitation in the Bhyundar Valley, Ghagariaalso offers you an opportunity to witness the scenic confluence of Bhyundar Ganga and Pushpawati forming Lakshman Ganga that later meet the River Alaknanda at Govindghat.

Ghagaria to Valley of Flowers

With a total of 8 km trek to Valley of Flowers and back, at an altitude of 10,998ft to 11,500 ft., participants can take a full day to witness the snow capped mountains of the valley and set them free under the misty sky. You start seeing life through the rose tinted glasses. The valley is a fairyland for nature lovers, botanists and photographers. Pushpawati River flowing by its side carrying the snow patches is a beauty no one should miss. The valley reminds you of the beautiful meadows of the movie Sound of Music with a spontaneous humming of ‘Edelweiss’ coming out of your mouth.

Ghagaria to Hemkund Sahib

Situated at an altitude of 15, 201 ft. Hemkund Sahib is a Sikh place of worship and pilgrimage site in Chamoli district. It takes a total of 10 km trek to devoted to Guru Govind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. It is the World’s Top Gurudwara where pilgrims go to meditate in the serene nature. You can also take a bath at the scenic Hemkund Lake. Sitting by the lake, you will be stunned by the magnificence of this beautiful nature in its purest form.

Ghagria to Govindghatand,Govindghat to Badrinath

On the sixth day, travelers can come back to Govindghat by trek and then to Badrinath by bus (25 km) on the National Highway. After travelling for one hour on the windy road by the River Alaknanda, the travelers will reach the one of the famous Four Dham’s of India i.e. Badrinath. It is believed that once there was an abundance of berries in the area leading to the name ‘Badri’ (berry). The holy site was re- established by Adi Shankara in 7th century. Situated at an altitude of 10, 170 ft. the view of snow cladded Nilkantha peak is enchanting. You can also take a bath in the hot springs letting your body relaxed after a six days long journey.

Badrinath to Mana Mana to Vasudhara

Known as “India’s last village”, Mana is a picturesque village situated by the river Saraswati at an altitude of 10500 ft. The rock bridge named Bheema Pul is another attraction for the tourists. The bridge is believed to be created by Bheema to make way for Draupadi, to cross the river, during their journey to heaven. Sipping tea at the last tea shop of India you can immerse yourself with the nature as far as your eyes can reach. From Mana you can trek to Vasudhara falls Near the falls lies the scenic confluence of Satopanth and BaghirathKharak glaciers, which is the source of the River Alaknanda. Trekking a total of (6+6km) by the steep mountain trails you can reach Badrinath with by the evening.

Badrinath to Rishikesh

Travelling 288 km the whole day you will be back in Rishikesh by the evening. In Rishikesh you will get an opportunity to entertain yourself and your co- travelers with recreational activities. You will also get certificates of participation from YHAI

Check out after Breakfast

After eight days of adventurous and spiritual journey you can check out on the ninth day with a contented heart.

* Food : YHAI provides nutritious, good quality meals which includes Morning tea, breakfast, packed lunch, evening tea (in the camp), inner and after dinner tea/coffee/Bournvita, shall be provided.  Please bring your own plates, mugs, spoons etc.
 
* Accommodation Facilities: Pucca Accommodations/Guest House/Lodge on sharing bases.
 
 
* Safety & Security: Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
 
 
* What participants should bring along: Rucksack (if You have one), Woolen set, Cotton Shirts, Thermacot set, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Woolen Cap, Trekking Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Lunch box ,Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Sun Glasses, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet / Rain coat set,  Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries, warm jacket, Torch with extra cell.
 
* Notice to Participants: YHAI membership card or Receipt of payment for membership fees and Admit card, original Medical Certificate & two Passport size photographs is must to enter into the Base Camp. Without these documents participating members will not be allowed at Base Camp.
 
* Special Casual leave: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.
 
*Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship.  Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents.  In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.
 
*Adventure Scholarship for Physically Challenged Youth: YHAI announced 50% adventure scholarships of to physically challenged youth (including deaf & dumb) for YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI, on a plain paper supported by relevant documents/certificates (Disability Certificate).  
 
*Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women :YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country.  Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ 
certificates through their respective State Branch.
