      Youth Hostels Association of India has been organizing adventure activity programmes  for the last 40 years .For the Fourth time with diversification ,we are organizing National Himalayan Mountain Biking Expedition (from kullu to Jalori Pass and back to Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh).

 

Dates:

The expedition consists of only 11 batches of 20-40 participants each reporting at base camp on 24th Arpil,28th April,2nd May,6th May,10th May,14th  May,18th May ,22nd May,26th May,30th May and 5th June.


PROGRAMME SCHEDULE & ROUTE


FROM 24TH ARPIL 2010 TO 5TH JUNE 2010

DAY 01:   Report at Base Camp-Youth Hostel, Aut-3500 ft
DAY02:  Acclimatization and orientation
DAY 03:    Biking to Youth Hostel, Ban jar 22 kms (4000
                          Ft)
DAY 04: Biking to Youth Hostel, Jibhi-10 kms—(6000 ft)
DAY 05: Biking to Youth Hostel, Jalori Pass-10 kms-
              (10500) ft.
DAY 06: Nature Trail at Jalori Pass. Biking back to YH
                      Ban jar 20 kms
DAY 07:  Biking to Youth Hostel, Aut-22kms-(3500 ft)
DAY 08:   Group breaks after breakfast.

 

Age:

The minimum age for joining the expedition is 18 years .This condition will be adhered to strictly .Under age will not be considered in any case

Fees:

2100/- per head which cover use of bicycle ,stay in tented accommodation ,simple nutritious vegetarian meals ,expert guidance, equipment and  insurance .Payment of fees by Demand Draft only in favour of National Secretary ,YHAI  at New Delhi .You can also apply online .Visit us at www yhaindia.org


Note 1: YHAI trekking expeditions are not subsidized by any Government agencies or donors.
 Note 2:  Development fund will be utilized for the infrastructural improvement of the campsites and equipment.
 IMP:  YHAI Group Insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take insurance cover for your journey and other related matter.

6. Knap Sacks.

How to Reach: 

For National Himalayan Mountain Biking ,our base camp is at AUT which is on Kullu-Manali Highway .It is 28 kms short from Kullu .Direct bus services are available from ISBT Delhi ,Chandigarh and others parts of Punjab . Nearest railhead are Joginder Nagar, Pathankot and Chandigarh.

Personal Requirements:

Personal items to be brought  by you ,cotton shirts ,slacks ,cotton pants ,sun cap ,shoes ,socks ,enameled or steel mug/tumbler ,plate ,spoon ,water purifying tablets ,pen ,Knife ,needle ,thread ,spare buttons ,goggles ,cold cream or Vaseline , soap ,toilet paper ,towel ,medicines which you normally use at home ,camera and film rolls(optional).

Certificate:

Participants, who successfully completed the track and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificate.

Cancellation:

In case you unable to join the trek after paying the participation fee, you will get a refund of Rs 975/- provided your request is received directly in the National Office at least 7 days in advance from the date of your reporting .No refund will, however, be admissible if such notice is short of 7 days .Any unforeseen event /strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

Casual Leave:

No casual Leave is applicable for mountain biking expedition.

Your Attention:

Please note that is an environment friendly trek .Do not litter any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with and deposit at the base camp.

Warning:

Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited .Import of any Bio Non-Degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence.

Safety:

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trek routes for your safety .Our field staff and the experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details .while every care has been taken to ensure safety ,the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident .illness and such other unforseen eventualities .smoking ,use of alcohols and narcotics of any description are strictly prohibited during  the course of programme .Deviation from the set route of the programme is not permitted .If participants desire to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the trek and the checking out.

PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION


      

We are sure that while trekking you must have across the different views which have a deep impression on your mind and brain for keeping a permanent record of such a lasting impressions, you would like to capture them in your camera .We felicitate such delightful scenes .You may send your color prints (not slides) in size 8”* 10”.The themes of photographic entries are:
       (a)  Nature (Wildlife, Birds and Flowers):
       (b) Camping
       (c)  Trekking
      
       Please do not forget to give details of the location and date of photograph, your Name, Group No .and address on the reverse of the photograph (preferably type on a paper and paste).Perhaps you may be the lucky one to get a cash and award and/or a certificate of Merit .YHAI has the right to retain /use even the entries which are not selected for awards with due acknowledge/compensation .Last date for submitting entries is 31st July 2010.
