ARAVALLI RANAKPUR KUMBHALGARH

TREKKING EXPEDITION 2009

Youth Hostels Association of India, Rajasthan State Branch, is organising ARAVALI RANAKPUR KUMBHALGARH TREKKING EXPEDITION 2009 for the second time in the historical & famounsr range of Aravalli Hills. These hills are upto 3500 ft. high above the sea level.September.

Rajasthan, better known as desert area has a surprise in the form of Kumghalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary situated amidst the sylan charms and the winding valleys, it is a fact demanding to be realized that does not however disillusions the trekkers,Alluring flora and fauuna are hte special characteristics here. The place is bejewelled with verduous forest and resounding valleys. It is a great exploring place for the trekkers. Kumbhalgarh is the birh place of Maharana Pratap. Kumbhalgarh fort wall is the second largest wall in the world. Its length is 36 kms. and its width is 36 ft. Rajasthan is synonymous with bravery, sacrifice and austerity. Then infinite variey of its ethnic communities and their rich heritage of ancient traditions and lifestyles, its festivals to be discovered. September.

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAMME

The purpose of the programme is to create in the minds of the youth a sense of love for the countryside, by way of offering them a new trekking route and thereby providing theman outdoor recreational, with the aim of promoting the National Integaraion and bringing them together from all parts of the country.

REPORTING PLACE & DATES

You may choose to report at Shaktimata Temple(Base Camp) Near Shilpi Tourist Bunglow, Ranakpur, Rajasthan on any date from 21st Oct. to 25th Oct.2009. In case all groups will full then we can also extend group dates as per response of candidates.

AGE

Minimum age to participate in this expedition is 10 years, and the age restriction will be strictly adhered to.

FEES

Rs.1900/- per head. D/D favouring "YHAI, Rajasthan State Branch", Payable at Jaisalmer, which will cover the stay, simple nutritious vegetarian food, transportaion, guidance, equipment, and insurance. You will, however, have to bear to and fro travel expenses from your home town to reporting camp at Ranakpur, Rajasthan. Special Rajasthani Dishes in Dinner

PERSONAL ITEMS TO BE BROUGHT BY YOU FOR THE TREK

Rucksack (if your have one), cotton shirts, cotton pants, woolen jersey, woolen muffler or monkey cap, hunter shoes, torch with spare batteries, water bottle, lunch box, enamelled or steel mug or tumbler, plate, spoon, water purifying tablets, pen-knife, needle, thread, spare buttons, goggles, cold cream or Vasseline, soap, toilet-paper, towel, medicines which yu normally use at home.

 SCHEDULE

Day 01: Reporting at Base Camp & Orientation.
Day 02: Transfer by bus to Malghat(3km.), Trek from Malghat to Phutadeval (13km)- 7 hrs.
Day 03: Trek to Parshuram Mahadev Temple, Aarth Village, Kumbhalgarh (14km.) - 5 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Kumbhalgarh Fort & Thandiberi (13 km.) - 6 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Muchalla Mahavir Temple (2.5 km.) 1hr. back by bus to Base Camp, Ranakpur &             Group breaks after Lunch.

HOW TO REACH

Ranakpur base Camp (Shaktimata Temple) is situated in between Udaipur and Jodhpur, the two important tourist places on the State Highway No.32, it is about 90 km. from Udaipur, and sufficient means of conveyance are available from both the cities. The closest, Maharana Pratap Airport (Dabok) at Udaipur, is about 105 km. away from Falna Railway Station which is well connected by trains to Delhi, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. Ranakpur is 145 km. away from Mt. Abu. Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Nathdwara & Jodhpur are other important tourist attractions and can be reached by road from here.

HOW TO APPLY

Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on a prescribed Registration Form duly supported by a Medical Certificate which is available from Units/States Branches and National Office.

CANCELLATION

In case you are unable to join the trek after paying the participation fee, you will get a refund of Rs.950/- provided your request is received directly in the Rajasthan State Office at least 7 days in advance from the date fo your reporting. No refund will, however, be admissible if such notice is short of 7 days.

SAFETY

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking expeditions have gone into the planning of trekking expedition route for your safety. Our field staff and experienced route for your safety . Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety,the Youth Hostels Association of India or its Rajasthan State Branch cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseeable eventualities. Deviation from the set route of the programme is not permitted. If Participants desire to join any other activity they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the trek and checking out.

CERTIFICATES

Participants, who successfully complete the expedition, and abide by the discipline of the programme, will be awarded certificates.

ADVENTURE SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED YOUTHS

YHAI Rajasthan State Branch announces 50 adventure scholarships of Rs.950/- each to physically challenged youth including deaf and dumb for this expediton. Deseving participants may apply to the YHAI, Rajasthan State Branch on a plain paper supported by relevant certificates.

YOUR ATTENTION

Please note that this is an environment friendly trek. Do not litter any wrappers or spoil the trail in any. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please, carry the same with you for disposing at the Base Camp

WARNING

Burning of wood during Camp Fire is strictly prohibited, carrying of any non-bio degradable material is an offence.

Smoking, use of alcohols and narcotics of any description are strictly prohibited during the course of the programmed.
