National Motor Bike Expedition-2009

Dear friend,

This has reference to your e-mails regarding National Motor Bike Expedition-2009.

We would like to inform you about the following:

Limca Book of Records/Guinness Book of World Records

Guinness World Record

We paid Rs.32,070/- for fast track registration to register our claim of reach of 100  participants together at the highest motorable road, Khardung La,Leh, Jammu and Kashmir, but they disqualified our claim as they are counting us as “Largest number of motorcycle group” instead of “Reach 100 motorcyclist together at highest motorable road, Khardung La, Leh, Jammu and Kashmir”.  They have already a record of 2,474 motorcyclist group in Thailand.

Limca Book of Record

We are applying for Limca Book of Records and entries have to be submitted by 30th May 2010.  As our expedition was organized in August-September,2009 and last date for 2010 edition was 30th June 2009 before the start of our expedition.  After verifying our documents, it may be registered for Limca Book of Records-2011.

Certificate & Photographs sent to Participants

Design of Certificates was taken from the brochures printed for this expedition as brochure’s design was very much appreciated.

Two photographs were sent along with the Certificate to show the joy of the participants at Kharkung La and photo including many motorcyclists showing in one picture. These photographs were good and we sent it to share these pictures with you.  Our purpose was not to send any individuals photographs.

Arrangements

Event Recee :   This expedition could not be organised without a proper recee by the officials and volunteers of the YHAI in the past two years.  Interaction with the individual motorcyclist or group of motorcyclists who went on this route were also undertaken.  Extensive interaction with the Army, Border Road Organisation and Air Force (for any emergency evacuations) were done.  Our officials and office bearers had meetings with the Government machineries of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.  Even the Highway Authorities of Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh were interacted.  We had already informed you all possible risk factors and hazards.  It may be possible that those participants who took such an adventure programme or camping at high altitude for the first time may have faced some difficulty. But you will agree that the best possible arrangements at such difficult areas could not be possible without proper preparations.

High Calorie Food :  Proper  High Calorie Menu  was prepared in consultation with the Nutrition Expert for this expedition.  We are aware that when participants come from all over country with different tastes and food habits cannot be satisfied with one type of Menu.

Doctors : We have selected highly qualified doctors from Gujarat and Maharashtra who volunteered to serve the Expedition.  On their recommendation and supervision, a large quantity of medicines for all possible ailments and accidents were carried in the Ambulances for both the expeditions.

Ambulance :  Ambulance was moving in the last so that if any casualty happens it could be treated on the spot.  Ambulances for both the expeditions were fully equipped with medicines, minor O.T. and ten oxygen cylinders.  Participants who were moving at high speed were naturally far away from the ambulance.

Technicians : Mechanics were serving as volunteers for this Expedition.  They were very experienced in their profession.  Most of the participants were happy with the mechanics during the expedition.

Photographers:  We engage an NGO FIPA (Forum of Indian Photographers and Artist) to capture photographs and videos of this expedition.  FIPA sent four photographers each for both the expeditions.  As per MOU signed with FIPA, we provided a separate vehicle to the photographers and paid for all the raw materials purchased from the market.  The FIPA was supposed to handover the photographs and video in its raw form immediately after the expedition.  Unfortunately this did not happen.  We were able to get the material in the second week of December, 2009 only.  This resulted in having no photographs of the Expedition with us till that time.  That was the reason that we invited photographs from the participants in the form of a Photographic Competition.  We are thankful to the three participants who only sent their photographs.  We are further constrained as the quality and reach of photographs and videos is not good.  However, we are still trying to bring out an edited video from the material available with us.

This expedition was a one time attempt from the YHAI to give an opportunity to Indians at a low cost to undertake this exciting and hazardous expedition.

We feel happy and satisfied if you have enjoyed this expedition and hope you will continue interest in the adventure sports of varied kind of your own.

With regards,

Yours sincerely,

J.P. Sharma
