JAMMU & KASHMIR
The princely state of Jammu and Kashmir is located in the Himalayas, in the northernmost part of India, forming the so called- Crown of India. It is districted by the Pir Panjal rage, which separates it from Ladakh. The valley of Kashmir is known to the world as the Paradise of Earth because of its immense natural beauty formed by beautiful lush green meadows, alpines, Chinar and Devdar trees, Tavi, Chenab and Jhelum nurturing the land with their crystal clear water.
Islam is the dominant religion, along with Hinduism and Buddhism. The official language spoken is Kashmiri, also, Dogri, Urdu and Pahari.
The state is mostly known for its tourism, lakes, rivers, valleys and Beautiful Boat Houses. The people are simple in living and tourism is the main source of income. The state also beholds various pilgrimages which are world famous and people from every part of the country intend to visit there. These include Amarnath, Vaishno Devi Shrine, Dal Lake in Srinagar, Gulmarg and many more destinations which are very famous amongst the Hindus. The Monasteries in the Leh Ladakh region are famous for their history and architecture and are a famous tourist and religious spots on the world map.
The Jammu and Kashmir State Branch has 4 Branch Units under it, and 6 Youth Hostels which are well monitored in co ordination with the National Office.
