Youth Hostels Association of India is happy to announce a most demanding program in the north east region named The Beauty of Eastern India: Darjeeling & Sikkim Individual Tour: 2023.
Darjeeling is a hill station in the northern region of West Bengal. It used to be a lovely Victorian town built among the Himalayan foothills, the remnants of which are still visible around the Chowrasta. Darjeeling remains a popular summer and fall resort for the natives of Kolkata today. The main attractions are the cultural diversity of the Tibetan and Nepali populations. The town is also a jumping off point for travelers heading to Sikkim.
Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kangchenjunga. Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers.
DAY WISE SCHEDULE:
Day 1: Report at IYH Darjeeling at 12 noon. After having hot lunch one can visit The Mall, Mahakal temple, Raj Bhawan, and Nightingale Park on a walk. Night stay at IYH Darjeeling.
Day 2: Wake up early at 3 am. Take morning tea, and drive towards Tiger Hill for mesmerizing Sunrise. After enjoying Sunrise come back to the hostel, take your breakfast and then drive to enjoy the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Museum, Himalayan Zoological Park, Batasia Loop, and Rock Garden. Night stay at IYH Darjeeling.
Day 3: After having breakfast at IYH Darjeeling, drive for Sikkim’s capital city Gangtok. Take hot lunch at Gangtok, and then visit Mahatma Gandhi road (The Mall), Tashi viewpoint, and the Flower Show on a walk. Night stay at Gangtok camp.
Day 4: After having breakfast drive to enjoy the Historically Significant Nathu La pass (Tibet Border), Baba Harbhajan Singh Ji Mandir, Tsomgo Lake (Chhangu), and Hanuman Ji Mandir. Night stay at Gangtok camp.
Day 5: After having breakfast drive to visit South Sikkim. Today you will visit Chardham temple at Namchi and Buddha Park at Ravangla.
Day 6: Group breaks after breakfast.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? The minimum and maximum age for a YHAI member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly.
HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP:
The Base Camp is at International Youth Hostels Darjeeling, Chota Kakjhora, Near New Taxi Stand, 200mtr away before Darjeeling Railway Station, Darjeeling is easily accessible from any part of India by Air, Rail or Road,
Nearest Railway Station Darjeeling (only 200meter away from our Hostel)
Nearest Airport at Bagdogra (70 km / 3 hours)
From there avail Bus/Jeep/Taxi services to reach International Youth Hostel, Darjeeling.
HOW TO JOIN:
Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online though website: www.yhaindia.org by paying requisite program fee Rs.13750/-.
We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.
After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry "Admit Card", "Trekking Medical Certificate" & "Membership Card, two passport size photographs at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.
Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed "Trekking Registration Form" duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate", along with a Demand Draft of requisite amount of Rs.13750/- .in favour of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. The Trekking registration Form, Trekking Medical Form and Demand Draft may be sent to following address:
All Offline Booking confirmation is subject to availability of seats. National Office will send the Admit Card along with confirmation letter to the participant at the address mentioned in "Trekking Registration Form".
Members can also apply through our YHAI Units or State Branch in their respective area.
ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES: Pucca accommodation (ON SHARING BASIS).
FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES: Simple, nutritious vegetarian meals
WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG: Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Lunch box ,Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet, Medicines (As per your personal requirement, which you regularly use at home and Crepe Bandage 4in*1, Micropore tape 1/2inch*1, Bandaids, Cough lozenges/ Kanthil or other, Vicks Vaporub, Coldarin, Clortrimazole cream and powder, Paracetamol*10 Mupirocin cream, Diclofenac gel, Lopamide*10, Azithromycin and Electral), Camera with extra batteries.
1) In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2023. The request for cancellation or transfer or postponement must be received by us by email or any written mode before 7 days from the reporting date of your program. After that no request of transfer or refund or postponement will be considered. No refund will be applicable for any cancellation of a seat and credit shell will be provided only.
2) If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the Trek till Dec 2023.
3) If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.
4) If the trekker opts for the same programme that was cancelled, he/she will not be charged extra even if the price goes up next year.
5) You may transfer your seat to your family members and friends also.
Note: No medical issues, natural calamity or any sort of personal reasons will be considered as cancellation reason and will be considered for refund.
