BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM
An ideal Himalayan trek for beginners and families
The Dayara Bugyal trek is the best for beginners and seasoned
trekkers alike located in the Uttarkashi District of Uttarakhand. It’s an
all-time favorite meadow trek that can be done in all seasons of the
year. Mostly beautiful in winter for snow covered trails and In spring,
when the snow starts to melt, the blooming flowers of this high
altitude meadow ( Bugyal) enhance the beauty of the trail, making it
look like a perfect paradise, especially for the nature enthusiasts.
The Dayara Bugyal trek is considered easy to moderately difficult, and
is suitable for beginners. However, the trek can be challenging in the
winters due to snow. The trek can test your endurance and stamina.
The itinerary is designed to take you up to the highest altitude in
stages. The trek includes long distances and steep paths.
The trek includes a gradual ascending trail. Maximum Altitude: ~3,650
m (11,975 ft) at Dayara Bugyal Summit. On the 5th day you will also be
visiting Gangnani, which is noted for its thermal springs and
magnificent views of the Himalayas. The thermal water spring at
Gangnani is called Rishikund. Most of the devotees take holy dip in this
natural hot water spring before heading towards Gangotri. There are
separate kunds for both men and women.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Raithal Village
FOR REGISTRATION, Reporting Time is 07.30 AM, Arrive at Dehradun Railway
Station near Dehradun Hill Bus Station. Dedicated transport will be arranged for
pickup from Dehradun Railway Station to Uttarkashi. The journey typically takes
7-8 hours, depending on road conditions. The scenic beauty along the route is sure
to refresh you with its pristine beauty. Reach Raithal by evening.
Distance: ~180 km (by road)
Altitude: 1,700 m (5,905 ft)
Travel Time: 7-8 hours
Highlights: En route visit to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Uttarkashi.
Stay: Homestay at Raithal Village. Explore the charming heritage houses and get
introduced to the trek route.
Day 2: Raithal to Gui
Trek Distance: ~4 km
Altitude: 2,700 m (8,858 ft)
Trekking Time: 3-4 hours
The trail ascends gradually through dense oak and rhododendron forests. Overnight
camping at Gui, a serene campsite with stunning views of Bandarpoonch and
Gangotri peaks.
Day 3: Gui to Chillapda via Dayara Bugyal
Trek Distance: ~8 km
Altitude: 3,650 m (11,975 ft) at Dayara Bugyal Summit, 3,200 m (10,498 ft) at
Chillapda
Trekking Time: 6-7 hours
Reach Dayara Bugyal, a sprawling snow-covered meadow offering 360° view of the
Himalayan ranges. After spending time at the summit, descend gradually to the
campsite at Chillapda. Overnight camping.
Day 4: Chillapda to Nayata via Barnala Lake and Temple
Trek Distance: ~7 km
Altitude: 2,600 m (8,530 ft) at Nayata
Trekking Time: 4-5 hours
Description: Explore Barnala Lake, surrounded by a tranquil alpine setting, and the
nearby temple. Continue the descent to Nayata, a beautiful campsite located amidst
forested terrain. Overnight camping at Nayata.
Day 5: Nayata to Raithal Village and Visit to Gangnani
Trek Distance: ~4 km (Nayata to Raithal by trek)
Altitude: 1,800 m (5,905 ft) at Raithal
Trekking Time: 3-4 hours
Post Lunch Activity: Drive to Gangnani (approx. 10 km), known for its hot water
springs. Relax and rejuvenate before returning to Raithal for the night. Overnight stay
in a homestay.
Day 6: Raithal Village to Dehradun
Distance: ~180 km (by road)
Travel Time: 7-8 hours
Description: Drive back to Dehradun with unforgettable memories of the trek.
HOW TO REACH THE REPORTING CAMP DEHRADUN :
By Air: Dehradun’s airport is the Jolly Grant Airport, which is located 27 km approx away from
the railway station. All airlines have regular flights to Dehradun. Mostly flights arrival time is
around afternoon.
By Bus: Dehradun is well connected to most cities such as Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh,
Punjab and Himachal Pradesh by Volvo, Deluxe, semi-deluxe and Uttarakhand State
Transport buses. These buses arrive and depart from the Dehradun Inter State Bus Terminal
(ISBT) near Clement Town. Buses depart from here every 15 minutes to one hour. Other bus
terminals in Dehradun are the Mussoorie Bus Station, located at the Dehradun Railway
Station which has regular bus services to Uttarkashi.
By Train: Dehradun is connected by regular train services to cities Delhi, Lucknow,
Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ujjain, Chennai and Varanasi. The Dehradun Railway Station is
located 1-2 kilometers away from the city centre and should take you only ten minutes,
depending on traffic. Dehradun is connected to the rest of the country by trains such as the
Shatabdi Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, Dehradun AC Express, Vande Bharat among others.
Road/Self Drive: A popular tourist destination, Dehradun has a strong road network, which
makes for a pleasant driving experience. Dehradun is well connected by road to cities like
Delhi by the NH 58 and 72 is approximately a 4 hour drive. Dehradun is also well connected
to cities like Haridwar and Rishikesh.
WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:
Rucksack: 40-60 Ltr. Carry your own rucksack,
Small Backpack/Day Pack: 10-20 Ltr.
Trekking Shoes: Sturdy and comfortable.
Floaters/Flip Flops: For wearing around the camp.
Socks: Multiple pairs, including woolen ones for warmth.
Rain Gear: Raincoat and Poncho.
Lighting: Torch/ Head Torch (flashlight) with extra batteries.
Food Storage: Lunchbox.
Hydration: Water bottle.
Warm Clothing: Woollen garments such as jackets, sweaters, cap, gloves, and
extra pairs of socks.
Sun Protection: Sun cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen cream.
Skin Care: Moisturizer and lip balm.
Personal Medical Kit: Essential medications and first aid supplies.
Hygiene Items: Soap and towel/ Paper Toilet Rolls etc.
Tech Essentials: Camera and power bank.
General Clothing: Appropriate clothing layers for various weather conditions.
Weather will be around zero to five degrees at higher camps in evening and
morning.
Personal Utilities: Any personal items and utilities needed for the trek.
Inclusions:
Stay/ ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES: Accommodation is included for all days of the
trek. Tents will be provided on a triple-sharing basis. Accommodation in Home Stay at
Raithal GOAT VILLAGE on the 1st and 5th Night and Tents on a sharing basis will be provided
on the 2nd 3rd and 4th day
Transport: Transportation from Dehradun to Raithal and back is covered.
Meals: All meals are provided from dinner at Raithal on Day 1 to Day 6 breakfast.
Trek Equipment: All essential trek equipment is included, such as sleeping bags,
kitchen and dining tents, utensils, mattresses, personal tents, toilet tents, and Gaitres &
crampons (if needed).
Forest Entry and Permits: All required fuel charges, tolls, forest entry fees, and permits
are covered.
Trek Staff: A qualified, professional team, including a mountaineering-certified trek
leader, guide, cook, and support staff, will accompany you.
Emergency Kit: First aid medical kits, oxygen cylinders, and stretchers are provided for
safety.
Trek Certificate: Receive a trek certificate to celebrate your adventure.
Exclusions:
Personal Gear: Items such as trekking shoes, Trekking Poles, personal clothing, and
other gear are not provided.
Additional Food and Beverages: Any food and beverages outside of the provided
meals are not included.
Medical Expenses: Any medical expenses beyond first aid and basic assistance are
not covered.

SAFETY & SECURITY:
Trained and expert camp leaders will be available to provide guidance throughout
the trek. Medicines and first aid/basic medical assistance will be available in the
camp. While every precaution has been taken to ensure safety of participants, The
Youth Hostels Association of India, Uttrakhand State Branch will not be responsible
for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen circumstances.
Special Casual leave:
The trekking expedition organized by the Youth Hostels Association of India is
approved by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of
Personnel and Training), Government of India, as per Office Order No. 28016/3/89
Estt (A), dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in Central Government
organizations can apply to the concerned authorities to avail special casual leave for
the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office for up to
30 days in a calendar year.
Certificates: Participants who successfully complete the trek and adhere to the
program's discipline will be awarded certificates in recognition of their
accomplishment.
Additional Notes
Prohibited Substances: Smoking, and the use of alcohol or narcotics in any form is strictly
prohibited during the course of the program.
Route Adherence: Participants must adhere to the designated route of the program. Any deviation
is not permitted. Participants wishing to join other activities may do so at their own responsibility
and risk only after completing the program and checking out.
Accommodation: Staying outside the designated YHAI Camps is not allowed for the entire
duration of the trek.
Environmental Responsibility: This is an environment-friendly trek. Do not litter or spoil the trail
in any way. If you come across any litter, such as wrappers or plastic bags left by previous trekkers,
please carry them with you and deposit them at the next camp.
Campfire Rules: Burning of wood during campfires is strictly prohibited to prevent deforestation
and environmental damage.
Medical Certificate: A medical certificate is compulsory and must be submitted at the time of
reporting for the trek.
Cancellation by the organization: In case the cancellation due to natural calamity, government
restrictions, cancellation of permissions, or any other unforeseen circumstances, YHAI will be
accountable only for the program fees. Other expenses incurred by participants for joining the
program will not be covered. In such situations, the decision regarding the refund of participation
fees will be made by YHAI and will be final and binding on all participants.

Who Can Participate.
This program is open to YHAI members ( existing and new ones which one can take
even after booking but before joining at Dehradun) who are 12 years and older and
physically fit. Participants below 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or
guardian. Participants above 65 years will be allowed subject to approval from the
Program Coordinator or Authorized Persons in offline mode.
NOTE-
Participants below 18 years of age and travelling without parents should submit
Trekking Registration Form with Parent's consent and their signature their of with
their ID and contact nos and participants above 65 years should submit affidavit
available at the download section of YHAI website.
How to join:
Participants should be YHAI members and they can use the trekking registration
form available on the National office website http://yhaindia.org/Media/Download
. Participants shoulld also have a Medical certificate which is also available in the
above website. This should be submitted in original at the time of reporting.
Trekking Registration Form duly filled and completed in all aspects need to be sent
to Youth Hostels Association of India, Uttarakhand State Branch, First Floor,112
Majra,Saharanpur Road, Dehradun 248121 Uttarakhand Participants, may scan the
Registration form and mail it to email id yhaiuttarakhand@gmail.com and Program
Coordinaters. However, original copies need to be produced during reporting.
Do share Deposit Slip/NEFT Challan Copy or a DD of requisite amount Rs.9,999/- in
favor of “Youth Hostel Association of India, payable at Dehradun.

Cancellation Rules:
If you are unable to join the program, the request must be received by the State Branch
by email or any other written mode before 10 days from the reporting dates.
You will get 50% refund. No Credit shell Policy and no transfer to any other program.
In case YHAI cancels the program due to Govt. permission/ regulation or any other
natural / weather conditions participants will be able to post pone it to a later date
or take 100% refund.
