*Brief description of the program: 

The Pindari Glacier has been attracting tourists since years due to its unique beauty, moderate risk level trek & natural diversity in the Himalayan region of Kumaon. This Glacier is located South-East of Nandakot, which is on the edge of Nanda Devi. Pindari Glacier is a large & gradual rising glacier, whose length is 3.2 km & width is 1.5 km. The zero point of Pindari glacier is located at an elevation of 12,007 feet above measured sea level. Pindari Glacier is the source of river Pinder, which meets River Alaknanda at the confluence of Karnaprayag in District Garhwal. Trek starts from Camp Dhur, then passes through Khati village (the last & large inhabited village on the trail), Dwali. After Dwali, follows the Pindari glacier through Phurkia & Zero point. Trek route is about 68 km long. The trek is comfortable for most of the trekkers to complete in 8 days. Pindari Glacier is also famous for other adventure sports such as Mountaineering Expedition, Ice climbing & Mountain Biking as mentioned in State Govt. information.

Programme Itenarary:

Day 1: Report at Base camp Dhur.

Day 2: Morning Exercise, Acclimatization, Orientation, Kit inspection & Luggage deposition.

Day 3: Trek from Dhur to Khati village. 8 km / 4 hours

Day 4: Trek from Khati to Dwali camp. 14 km / 8 hours

Day 5: Trek from Dwali to Phurkia camp. 7 km / 3 hours,  then visit Pindari glacier 0 point, & come back to Phurkia camp.  5 km + 5 km both ways, Night stay at Phurkia camp

Day 6: Trek from Phurkia to Khati village. 20 km fully downwards

Day 7: Trek from Khati to Base camp. 8 km / 4 hours

Day 8: Group breaks after breakfast

Mythology: According to mythology Pandavas did Pind Dan at this place before proceeding to swarga since then place is known as Pindari.

MANDATORY: Trekking Medical Certificate will be compulsory at the time of reporting (with 30 days of validity ) duly signed by  Registered Medical Practitioner (MBBS / MD only) along with his Registration no., Name and Stamp.

* How To Reach:

The base camp of the program will be at Dhur village, which is approx 55 km from Bageshwar, 128 km from Almora, and 209 km from Kathgodam Railway station.

By Air- From Panth Nagar Airport to Kathgodam/ Haldwani by shared Jeep or Taxi. From Kathgodam/ Haldwani to Bageshwar by Govt. bus/ Private bus/ Shared Jeep.

By Train/ Bus- From Kathgodam/ Haldwani Railway Station or Bus Stand to Bageshwar by Govt. bus/ Private bus/ Shared Jeep.

* Who can Participate: 

The minimum age for a member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and above age will not be considered. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate".

Special Cases for Consideration:

Subject to a person being medically fit and a regular trekker than he can be allowed in offline mode (Seat Availability & Management Discretion will be final). In this case, he/she has to produce Indemnity bond of Rs 100/- from his respective state and has to submit the same along with his Registration form.

 

*HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online by paying requesite program fee along with online booking amount, ie Rs.8500/- (including Online Booking Amount )

We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.

After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry "Admit Card", "Trekking Medical Certificate"- not before of 30 Days & "Membership Card"(Clear Print out of membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.

Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed "Trekking Registration Form" along with a Demand Draft of requisite amount of Rs.8500/-  in favour of “ Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. There is no refund applicable for all the programme bookings done after 20th August, 2020. The Trekking registartion Form and Demand Draft may be sent to following address:

*WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:  

  • Trekking Shoes (Preferably Water proof, highankle, & Nonskid).
  • Sandal or Chappal (Washable & quick dry).
  • Socks- Cotton & woolen 4 pair (One pair only for night time).
  • Trousers (Light weight, no jeans, no cargo preferably quick dry).
  • Inner Garments (as per requirement).
  • Cotton T-shirts (Full & Half sleeves both).
  • Trek Suite (Complete set).
  • Wind Cheater(Upper & Lower with hoods, preferable water repelled).
  • Rain Coat Set.
  • Sweater or Woolen Jersey.
  • Good quality Jacket.
  • Woolen & Water proof Gloves.
  • Bandana or Throat Cover.
  • Sun Cap & Woolen Cap.
  • Sun Glass (Polarized will be best).
  • Walking Stick.
  • Ruck Sack (If you have good one, otherwise will be provided by YHAI).

* Special Casual leave: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.

*SAFETY & SECURITY:  Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking routes for your safety. Our Trekking staff have been visited the route in details.  Every care has been taken to ensure safety. Youth Hostels Association of India, will not be held responsible for any accident, illness or any unforeseen exigency even casualties. Deviation from the set route of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activities they may do so at their own cost and responsibility, only after finishing the programme and checking out.

*ADDITIONAL NOTES: Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited.

Smoking, drinking alcohol & drug abuse in the camp & during trek is strictly prohibited. 

* Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI has announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI Adventure Activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- P.A. can avail this scholarship.  Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents along with PAN card details.  In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

*Off the Beaten Siddharth Scholarship for Underprivileged Young Men & Women :YHAI has announced 50% scholarship in programme fee to underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country.  Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- P.A can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ certificates through their respective State Branch.

 

* Cancellation Policy:

In case you are unable to join this trek, you will get a refund of 50%  of your booking provided when your request is received before 20th August 2020.

Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred.

There is no refund applicable for the all the program bookings done after 20th August, 2020.

Any unforeseen event/ strike or natural calamity/ unfit medical condition will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

Refund may be given after completion of the programs 30 to 45 working days.
