BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM: The valley of Har-Ki-Doon fall in the Western Garwal Himalayas bordering Himachal Pradesh. The trek route offers a breathtaking view of snowy mountains, peaks, dense forest, waterfalls, bugyals (high altitude meadows), wildlifeand rare himalayan birds. You can view the majestic peaks of Swargarohni, Bandarpoonch and Kala Nag from a close range. For ages, the land has been known for temples and shrines with sacred mythological attachments,

Duryodhna, the eldest of Kaurvas, is worshipped here, This trek route is virtually a paradise for the botonists, bird watchers, photographers, nature lovers, foot loose trekkers and anyone interested in exploring and learning in an unconventional way, in short, the more you trek in this area, the more curious you get to know more which has not yet been written but only found in tales and lores.

 

DAY WISE SCHEDULE:

Day 1:- Reporting at Transit camp Mussorie Youth Hostel.

Day 2:- Transfer to Sankri Base camp by bus. (Fees Includes- One Way transportation charges from Transit Camp Mussorie to Sankri Base)

Day 3:- Briefing and acclimatization walk.

Day 4:- Transfer from Sankri camp to Taluka by jeep(12 km) and then trek till Seema camp site (12 km).

Day 5:- Trek from Seema campsite to Kalkattidhar campsite(8 km).

Day 6:- Trek to Har Ki Doon and back to Kalkattidhar(14 km ).

Day 7:- Trek to Seema camp site(8 km).

Day 8:- Trek from Seema camp site to Taluka camp site(12 km) and transfer to Sankri Base camp by jeep (12 km).

Day 9:- Check out after breakfast from Base camp.

 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The minimum and maximum age for an YHAI member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and over age will not be considered in any case. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate"

 

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP:

By Air

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which lies approximately 54 kilometres away from base camp and offers daily flights from New Delhi.

By Road

Being a popular tourist destination, Mussoorie is well-connected with a network of buses & taxis. The proximity to Dehradun, the capital city of Uttarakhand makes Mussoorie more accessible.

By Train

Dehradun is well connected by Train network. Participants may select suitable trains.

 Members desirous of joining this programs may apply online by paying requisite program fee along with online booking amount .

1

Reporting at Transit camp Mussorie Youth Hostel.

Participants have to report at our Basecamp in Mussorie before evening 6 pm. Lunch, Dinner & stay at Mussorie.

2

Transfer to Sankri Base camp by bus.(Fees Includes- One Way transportation charges from Transit Camp Mussorie to Sankri Base)

On this day Post breakfast Participants will be transported to Sankri basecamp. Drive to Sankri is scenic as it passes through great stretches of alpine forest.Particpants will have packed lunch enroute amidst the magnificent setting of the nature.Post evening tea& snacks, Participants can take a stroll in this beautiful hamlet .Dinner & stay at Sankri.

Briefing and Acclimatization walk.

Following breakfast,Participants are briefed about the do’s and don’ts of the trek. Acclimatization walk post briefing to gain altitude and acclimatize the body to face challenges moving forward.Evening is dedicated to deposit extra luggage which participants don’t wish to carry on the trek. Participants can take essentials for the next few days in a backpack provided by YHAI.Dinner & stay at Sankri.

Transfer from Sankri camp to Taluka camp by jeep(12 km/40 mins)and then trek till Seema camp site (12 km/5-8 hrs).

Post breakfast Participants take a short but picturesque ride to Taluka, starting point of our trek. Hike from Taluka to Seema is a gradual climb through a dense forest and parallel to Supin river.Packed lunch enroute in a local village with a rich history and culture,It is evident in the architectural style of the local dwellings.Campsite is in wide open ground at seema. Dinner & stay at Seema.

Trek from Seema camp site to Kalkattidhar camp site(8 km/5-7hrs)

Participants start today’s hike by crossing supin river and as the climb get’s more steeper the views of Bandarpoonch and Swargarohini peaks reveal themselves to you in their full might.lunch enroute in the most jaw dropping setting amidst the meadow surrounded by variety of flowers and birds.It is an absolute paradise on earth. Dinner & stay at kalkattidhar.

Trek to Har Ki Doon and back to Kalkattidhar(14 km/7-8hrs)

Trek to Har Ki Doon is nothing short of a magical experience as you move through the landscape,The Ruinsara valley unravels tself. This valley is blessed with many elements of nature.As we reach Har Ki Doon we can spot Jaundhar glacier at a distance. Magnificent views of glacier and surrounding peaks makes it an overall enthralling experience.Lunch amidst the view of mighty peaks and glacier.Dinner & stay at kalkattidhar.

Trek to Seema camp site(8 km/3-4hrs)

Post Breakfast we start descending towards Seema which is the easiest yet tricky part of the trek. Depending on the time we reach the basecamp we can visit an ancient temple or just marvel at the traditions and culture of rural lifestyle while interacting with the locals. Dinner & stay at Seema.

Trek from Seema camp site to Taluka camp site(12 km/4-5 hrs) and transfer to Sankri Base camp by jeep (12 km/40mins)

As we trek further down towards Taluka ,we encounter some streams of water in which you can freshen up or refill your bottles.Packed lunch enroute before taking a scenic drive back to Sankri.Dinner & stay at Sankri.

Check out after breakfast from Base camp.

After collecting countless lifelong memories over the past several days ,the group disperses post breakfast.

ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:

 Base camp accommodation in Youth hostel at Mussorie & high camp accommodation in tented.

FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES:

Simple veg. nutritious and sumptuous food

 

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG:

Rucksack (if You have one), Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Packed Lunch Box, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet,  Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries. Jungle Boots/ Snow Shoes/ Trekking Boots are must for walking on snow.

 

*Certificates:

Participants, who successfully complete the trekking and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.

 

*Notice to Participants:

YHAI membership card or Receipt of payment for membership fees and Admit card, original Medical Certificate & two Passport size photographs is must to enter into the Base Camp. Without these documents participating members will not be allowed at Base Camp.

 

*Special Casual leave:

The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.

 

*Certificates:

Participants, who successfully complete the trekking and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.

 

*Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship:

YHAI announces Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

 

*Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship.  Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents.  In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

 

*Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women :YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country.  Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ certificates through their respective State Branch.

SAFETY & SECURITY:

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of this program routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

1. Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

2. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If participants may wish to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the program and checking out.

3. Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

4. This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

5. Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. 

CANCELLATION RULES:

Offline booking request for cancellation and refund may be sent through email at trekking@yhaindia.org. Please attach the copy of your Admit Card in your cancellation request email.

 

Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred.

There is no refund applicable for the all the program bookings done after 20th April 2021.

Any unforeseen event/ strike or natural calamity/ unfit medical condition will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

Refund may be given after completion of the programs 30 to 45 working days.
