Day wise Schedule:

Day 01: Reporting  (12.00 PM), Acclimatization, and orientation Walk.  

Day 02: Visit Srinagar Route( Sangam, Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Spituk Monastery, Hall of Fame, & Shanthi Stupa, Leh Palace, Leh Market)  

Day 03: Visit Nubra Valley, Khardungla Pass Stay at Nubra Valley Hotel( Men/Women Separate Sharing Based accommodation in Dorm{Not Family Wise)

Day 04: Visit Pangong  Lake, Changla Pass via Shayok River back to Leh

Day 05:Vist Manali Route 

Day 06: Recreation Activities & Checkout after breakfast (09.00 AM)

(Participants will have to pay for transportation while visiting all Sightseeing places (Rs.3000 to 4000/-.)Per Person including inner Line permit.)

Reporting (12.00 PM), orientation and acclimatization walk.

Participants have to report at base camp in Leh by 12 pm. Rest post lunch in the afternoon. Evening will be dedicated for an acclimatization walk. Dinner & stay at Leh

2

Visit Srinagar Route( Sangam, Magnetic Hill, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara, Spituk Monastery, Hall of Fame,&Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, Leh Market)

Participants will head out to explore some of the most sought after places around leh.Attractions such as Magnetic Hill, Meeting point of Indus and Zanskar river known as Sangam, Spiritual places such as Spituk monastery, Shanti Stupa and Patthar Sahib Gurudwara shall leave you seeking for more. One of the highlights of today is visiting the historic Leh palace as you get fascinating panoramic views of the magnificent leh and its surrounding areas

Visit Nubra Valley via Khardungla Pass Stay at Nubra Valley

On our way to Nubra valley also known as the ‘Orchard of Ladakh’ we cross the mighty Khardung la pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Click as many pictures as you want at the mighty khardung la as long as you can bare the cold. Nubra valley is famous for its orchards, scenic vistas, bactrain camels and monastery. Bactrain camel ride is an experience one should indulge in. Diskit monastery has an impressive 108 foot long Buddha statue facing down the Shyok river. Night time in Nubra valley is even more magical as the starry sky urges you to gaze at it for long durations

Visit Pangong Lake, via Changla Pass back to Leh

Pangong lake is the most sought after destination in ladakh mainly because of its scenic vistas, geographical significance and “3 Idiots”. The serene lake also offers a good sighting of migratory birds. You will be mesmerized with this majestic lake as it is a natural wonder like no other.

Visit Manali Route Hemis,3 Idiots School, Shey, Sindhughat, Thiksey

Today we see the best of Leh as we visit Thiksey, Hemis and shey monastery. Thiksey monastery is an architectural wonder as it is 12 story complex on a mountain top. The monastery houses plenty of Buddhist literature, artifacts and statues. We also visit the iconic 3 idiots school which was notably featured in the movie 3 idiots. Visiting these historic monasteries is of utmost significance as these are some of the oldest and prestigious structures in Leh.

BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:

Youth Hostels Association of India has been organizing various adventure programs for the last 48 years. People from the poles apart cultures and regions participate in our programs and enjoy our economical and budgeted trekking adventures. A large number of volunteers work with dedication, and support us for running these programs.

As a part of the Silver Jubilee Celebration of YHAI National Trekking, in 1995 we introduced the Family Camping Program for the families of our volunteer camp leaders and other functionaries. Encouraged by the success of this adventure and, on the request of our members, we repeated this program in many years till 2013. This year again, we are organizing the Family Adventure Camping Program in Leh, J&K.

Note: Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred. 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

1. Any YHAI member can participate on first come first serve basis.

2. A family consists of husband, wife and two children up to the age of 18 years. Copy of Age proof must be attached with application forms or must be submitted at the time of reporting at the Base Camp. Photographs of the Family Head must be attached on the forms. Third Child will be charged extra.

3. A single person does not constitute a family and shall not be registered for the camp. Parent of very small children should arrange for their bottle feed.

4. Photo ID Proof of the head of the family should be attached with the application form, to be produced at the time of reporting at the base camp.

5. For children above (Above 18 years of age Rs.2000/- per person will be charged. The extra person we will not allow apart from family. ( Husband, wife and two children up to the age of 18 years  only Double Bedded Room will be given)

6. Husband & Wife's membership is mandatory children’s are Above 18 years Membership is Mandatory.

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP:

By Bus: 

Route-1: from Srinagar 434km via Sonmarg, Zozila Pass & Kargil. J&K State Road Transport Corporation operates regular bus services between Srinagar and Leh on this route with overnight halt at Kargil.

Route-2: from Manali 474km via Keylong, Baralacha, Tanglangla & Upsi. Himachal Pradesh Tourism, HRTC and J&K SRTC operate daily Deluxe and ordinary bus services between Manali and Leh. The bus journey between Leh and Manali with an overnight halt at Keylong or Darcha.

By Air: Major Airlines operate daily flights from Delhi/Jammu/Srinagar

By Train: The closest railway stations are Jammu, Pathankot or Chandigarh, both at least three days away by bus.

NOTE: There is no prepaid mobile service availability at Leh- Ladakh region, only postpaid services are functional.(Airtel, BSNL,Only)

ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES:

One room shall be given to each family. Mattresses, pillow and blankets shall be provided.  A toilet-cum bathrooms block is available at the base camp. 

FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES:

 Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks, Enameled or Steel Mug/tumbler, Plate, Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Penknife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet,  Medicines which you normally use at home, Camera with extra batteries.

CANCELLATION RULES:

in case you are unable to join this trek you will get a refund of RS             provided your request is received directly in the National Office at least 15 days in advance from the date of your joining. Any unforeseen event/strike or natural calamity will not be considered as a cause of cancellation. A refund will be given after completion of the program.

SAFETY & SECURITY:

Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of mountain biking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

SMOKING, USE OF ALCOHOL AND NARCOTICS OF ANY DESCRIPTION IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING THE COURSE OF THE PROGRAM.
