*Brief description of the program: 

The Pindari Glacier has been attracting tourists since years due to its unique beauty, moderate risk level trek & natural diversity in the Himalayan region of Kumaon. This Glacier is located South-East of Nandakot, which is on the edge of Nanda Devi. Pindari Glacier is a large & gradual rising glacier, whose length is 3.2 km & width is 1.5 km. The zero point of Pindari glacier is located at an elevation of 12,007 feet above measured sea level. Pindari Glacier is the source of river Pinder, which meets River Alaknanda at the confluence of Karnaprayag in District Garhwal. Trek starts from Camp Dhur, then passes through Khati village (the last & large inhabited village on the trail), Dwali. After Dwali, follows the Pindari glacier through Phurkia & Zero point. Trek route is about 68 km long. The trek is comfortable for most of the trekkers to complete in 8 days. Pindari Glacier is also famous for other adventure sports such as Mountaineering Expedition, Ice climbing & Mountain Biking as mentioned in State Govt. information.

Programme Itinerary:

Day 1: Report at Kathgodam Railway Station before 7AM. (You will be picked up to reach Base Camp Dhur)

Day 2: Morning Exercise, Acclimatization, Orientation, Kit inspection & Luggage deposition.

Day 3: Trek from Dhur to Khati village. 8 km / 4 hours

Day 4: Trek from Khati to Dwali camp. 14 km / 8 hours

Day 5: Trek from Dwali to Phurkia camp. 7 km / 3 hours, then visit Pindari glacier zero point, & come back to Phurkia camp.  5 km + 5 km both ways, Night stay at Phurkia camp

Day 6: Trek from Phurkia to Khati village. 20 km fully downwards

Day 7: Trek from Khati to Base camp. 8 km / 4 hours

Day 8: Group breaks after breakfast. You will be drop at Kathgodam Railway Station by evening.

Note: The fees include the transportation from Kathgodam Railway Station to Base Camp Dhur and Return.

 

Mythology: According to mythology Pandavas did Pind Dan at this place before proceeding to swarga since then place is known as Pindari.

 

MANDATORY: Trekking Medical Certificate will be compulsory at the time of reporting (with 30 days of validity) duly signed by Registered Medical Practitioner (MBBS / MD only) along with his Registration no., Name and Stamp.

* How To Reach:

The base camp of the program will be at Dhur village, which is approx 209 km from Kathgodam Railway station. You need to reach at Kathgodam Railway Station before 7AM. We will start moving towards base camp sharp 7AM.

By Air- From Panth Nagar Airport to Kathgodam by shared Jeep or Taxi.

By Train/ Bus- For reaching Kathgodam bus/ train is available from Delhi, Lucknow, Dehradun and Rampur.

* Who can participate: 

The minimum age for a member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and above age will not be considered. Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate".

Special Cases for Consideration:

Subject to a person being medically fit and a regular trekker than he can be allowed in offline mode (Seat Availability & Management Discretion will be final). In this case, he/she has to produce Indemnity bond of Rs 100/- from his respective state and has to submit the same along with his Registration form.

 

*HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Online Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply online by paying requisite program fee along with online booking amount, i.e Rs.10500/-

We accept Net Banking, Debit Card and Credit Card payment on www.yhaindia.org for online payments.

After successful transaction Admit Card will be generated. Participant has to carry "Admit Card", "Trekking Medical Certificate"- not before of 30 Days & "Membership Card"(Clear Print out of membership card may also be accepted) at the time of reporting to the Base Camp.

Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may apply on the prescribed "Trekking Registration Form" along with a Demand Draft of requisite amount of Rs.10500/- in favor of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi. Reporting at Kathgodam Railway station (1,483 feet) before 7 am. Our vehicle will move at sharp 7 am. We will pick you for Dhur base camp (5604 feet). (Participants should take care of their meal during their journey).

From Dwali camp (8970 feet) Trek to Phurkia Camp (10,531 feet), 7 km’s, needed 3 hours Approx, after then visit towards Pindari glacier zero point (12,870 feet), & come back to Phurkia camp(10,531 feet). 5 km + 5 km both ways, Night stay at Phurkia camp.

 Trekking Shoes (Preferably Water proof, high ankle, Nonskid).
 Sandal or Chappal (Washable and quick dry).
 Socks- Cotton and woolen 4 pair (One pair only for night time).
 Trousers (Light weight, no jeans, no cargo preferably quick dry).
 Inner Garments (as per requirement).
 Cotton T-shirts (Full and Half sleeves both).
 Trek Suite (Complete set).
 Wind Cheater (Upper and Lower with hoods, preferable water repelled).
 Rain Coat Set.
 Sweater or Woolen Jersey.
 Good quality Jacket.
 Woolen and Water proof Gloves.
 Bandana or Throat Cover.

* Special Casual leave: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.

*SAFETY & SECURITY:  Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking routes for your safety. Our Trekking staff have been visited the route in details.  Every care has been taken to ensure safety. Youth Hostels Association of India will not be held responsible for any accident, illness or any unforeseen exigency even casualties. Deviation from the set route of the programme is not permitted. If participants desire to join any other activities they may do so at their own cost and responsibility, only after finishing the programme and checking out.

*ADDITIONAL NOTES: Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited.

Smoking, drinking alcohol & drug abuse in the camp & during trek is strictly prohibited. 

* Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI has announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI Adventure Activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- P.A. can avail this scholarship.  Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents along with PAN card details.  In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

*Off the Beaten Siddharth Scholarship for Underprivileged Young Men & Women :YHAI has announced 50% scholarship in programme fee to underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country.  Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- P.A can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ certificates through their respective State Branch.

CANCELLATION RULES:

Offline booking request for cancellation and refund may be sent through email at trekking@yhaindia.org. Please attach the copy of your Admit Card in your cancellation request email.

 

Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred.

There is no refund applicable for the all the program bookings done after 15th May 2021.

Any unforeseen event/ strike or natural calamity/ unfit medical condition will not be considered as a cause of cancellation.

Refund may be given after completion of the programs 30 to 45 working days.
