BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM: The radial biking expedition, takes you to islands and serene villages in and around base camp at Panaji. The trails on the Arabian Sea coast to lateritic plateaus with magnificent Sahyadri Western Ghats in backgrounds. Every day, the biker crisscrosses along the peaceful banks of River Mandovi. One also visits the UNESCO World Heritage site at Old Goa along with magnificent temples located in Antruz Mahal – Ponda. The Reis Magos Fort & Chapora Fort leaves one mesmerizing. The trail encompasses the entire range of all what Goa has to offer historically and naturally. From the coastline to the midlands to the mountain ranges is a huge experience of a varied land, a rich heritage and an interesting diversity of people who are proud of their land, culture and tradition.

 

 

Programme Schedule & Route:

Day 1

Report at Base Camp, Youth Hostel, Nr Hotel Marriot, Miramar, Panaji.

 

Day 2

Bike to Diwade Island, explore the island, View point atop the hill – Naroa – Old Goa, Visit to Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral Churches and back to base camp

Base camp – Donapaula – Bamboli – Shirdona – Goa Velha – Santan - Bhati Lake – Telauli – Pilar - Mandur  – Dongri - Neura – Karmali Lake for Crocodile sighting – UNESCO Heritage site at Old Goa– and back to Panaji via Ribandar

Base camp – Panaji Ferry Point – Beti – Vere - Reis Magos Fort – Kakedevli beach – Candoli – Light house at Aguada – Fort Aguada – Calangute Beach – Baga Beach –Chapora Fort – Vagator Beach - Anjuna Beach – Saligao – Chogam Road – Porvori – Base Camp

Base camp – Ribandar Ferry Point – Visit Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Chodan island – Haturli - Maye Lake – Paira - Corjue island/fort – Aldona Cable Stayed Bridge - Aldona – Pomburpa Springs - Britona – Beti Ferry Point - Base Camp

Base camp – Ribandar – Old Goa – Dhulapi – Kundai – Mardol – Mhalsa Temple - Priol – Apewal- Spice Farm – Keri - Vijay Durga Temple -  Anant Temple - Savoivere – Khandola – Marcel – Devki Krishna and Mallinath Temple – Dhauji – Old Goa – Ribander – Base Camp

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:   ONLY THOSE MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION WHO ARE EXPERIENCED IN RIDING GEARED BIKES, WITH PROPER SHIFTING OF GEARS, FOR MINIMUM 10 KM NON STOP, CAN JOIN THIS EXPEDITION. THE ORGANISORS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REJECT / DISQUALIFY MEMBERS WHO FAIL THE ELIGIBILITY TEST WHICH WILL BE TAKEN AT THE BASE CAMP,  DESPITE REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT OF FEES.  THEREFORE, MEMBERS SHOULD KINDLY ENSURE THAT THEY QUALIFY FOR THE ABOVE CONDITION BEFORE JOINING THE BIKING EXPEDITION.

 

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP: The base camp is located at Sports Authority Ground, Near Miramar Beach, Panaji Goa. The nearest railway stations are Thivim (25Kms), Karmali (12 km) and Margao (33km.). State bus service is available. Direct bus service is also available from Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore & Mangalore. Direct trains are available from Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and major cities of India.

 

HOW TO JOIN: Members desirous of joining the programme may apply on a prescribed Registration Form duly supported by a Medical Certificate, which is attached with the form. Photocopies of the forms are acceptable. The minimum age for participation is 10. Form should be sent along with draft of participation fee. Member may also register through online booking.

 

ACCOMMODATION FACILITIES: Accommodation in Panaji Youth Hostel

 

FOOD & WATER SUPPLIES: Morning tea, breakfast, lunch / packed lunch, evening tea and Dinner shall be provided. Simple vegetarian, good quality nutritious food shall be served at the camp. Please bring your own plates, mugs, spoons, tiffin box for pack lunch etc.

 

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG: Day pack, T-shirts and shorts, cycling dress with accessories, if required, sun cap, Sports shoes, min 2 pairs of socks, water bottle, lunch box, mug, plate, spoon, sun glasses, soap, towel, medicines (which you normally use at home).

 

SAFETY & SECURITY: Extensive and painstaking preparation has gone into the planning of trek routes for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. The Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accidents, illness and any such unforeseen eventualities. Deviation from the set route of the program is not permitted. If the participant desires to join any other activity, they may do so at their own responsibility and risk only after finishing the trek and checking out. YHAI group insurance cover is for accidental death or permanent disability only. You are advised to take insurance cover for your journey and other related matters.

 

USE OF ALCOHOL AND NARCOTICS OF ANY DESCRIPTION ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED DURING THE COURSE OF THE PROGRAMME.

FINAL VACCINATION CERTIFICATE IS MANDATORY FOR EVERY PARTICIPANT ABOVE 18 YRS

CANCELLATION RULES:

 1) In case you are unable to join the programme due to any reason or if YHAI cancels the program due to unavoidable circumstance, you will get a 100% Credit Shell of the participation fees which will be valid till December 2023. No refund will be applicable for any cancellation of seat.

2) If the next programme opted by you is cheaper, you may use the balance amount in any of the programme till Dec 2023.

3) If the next opted programme is costlier, the trekker has to pay the differential amount.

4) If the trekker opts for the same programme that was cancelled, he/she will not be charged extra even if the price goes up next year.
